Dakota Shain Byrd is a Whovian, a Hufflepuff, and a believer in the adventures lurking in the corners of our eyes, the things that make us jump. They also write for The Dallas Voice, which is the premiere media source for LGBT news in North Texas, and had the pleasure of being their 2013 summer editorial intern. That same year, they were also accepted to and attended the Lambda Literary Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBT Voices under the mentorship of award-winning author, Malinda Lo. Most recently they were chosen for Round 3 of Author Mentor Match, and became a curator for Love At First Chapter, an emerging and unique YA service that puts first chapters of new and recently published books in fans inboxes. When they’re not writing, reading or critiquing, you can find them avoiding the Texas heat as much as possible.
They love writing YA science fiction and fantasy, anything with under represented people, and are a gamer. Currently they’re studying to obtain their AAS in American Sign Language Interpretation and become a certified ASL interpreter in the state of Texas. You can connect with them on Twitter !
